Owning a boutique had always been a pipe dream, but with the ladies of Monkee’s corporate helping me get started, opening my own business didn’t seem like such an impossibility. The opportunity to open up a Monkee’s also came along at a time when I was working 40 hours a week at a desk in corporate America. I was burnt out, wasn’t married, had no children, and thought “why not?”.
Being a part of Monkee’s helps us discover brands from the South and North East that aren’t typical in the Midwest. My mother and I also do the buying together, so we have items for a very wide age range of customers. Over the past 5 years we have also adjusted our price points to appeal to the women in our area that want high quality fashion without a high price tag.
It is very exciting to watch as the Monkee’s brand grows and becomes more recognizable around the country. I love being a part of such a strong group of women that are so passionate about what they do and about helping each other succeed.
My family and the time I get to spend with them. Because I own my own business, my schedule is flexible enough that I can stay home with my children and still set an example for them by working hard outside of our home.
I am passionate about the Madeira Chamber of Commerce. I love being a part of transforming an old, traditional community into a place that attracts young families. We also support Dress for Success Cincinnati.
